Maylis Avaro is a Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) Postdoctoral Fellow at the History Faculty of the University of Oxford and a Fellow of St Hilda's College.
Her research interests are the rise and decline of international currencies and central banking history. The first part of her current work focuses on the decline of sterling after WWII. The second part investigates banking crisis and central banking policies in France and Switzerland in the 19th and 20th century.
She previously held fellowships from the Economic History Association, the Marie Curie MacroHist program and the SNSF.
She holds a PhD in International Economics and History from the Graduate Institute of Geneva, an MSc in Economic History from the London School of Economics and a Master in Economics and Social Sciences from the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Paris Saclay, France.
