Marco Molteni is currently a Research Fellow at the Graduate Institute, Geneva (IHEID). Prior to this he was a Post-Doctoral Researcher - Data Analysis on the ERC funded Global Correspondent Banking 1870-2000 project (Sept 2021-Aug 2023) where his role involved using advanced statistical analysis and relevant software to prepare the data and develop visualisations and network analysis of the many thousands of correspondent banking links recorded in published sources during this period.
Marco completed his DPhil in Economic and Social History at Pembroke College (Oxford) and wrote his thesis on banking failures and crisis management policies in Fascist Italy (1922-1943), reconstructing the story of what happened using the banking supervision archives at the Bank of Italy, where he spent a semester as visiting guest researcher at the Economic History Division. Previous to this he studied at the University of Milan (BA in History) and at Warwick University (PG Diploma in Economics). During his DPhil, he presented papers in research seminars and conferences at Cambridge, Bocconi, LSE, Nottingham, Madrid (UC3M), and Utrecht, and he was involved in organising three graduate conferences, at LSE in Dec 2018, at St Hilda’s (Oxford) in June 2019, and Pembroke (Oxford) in October 2019. He was also one of the editors of the Oxford Working Papers in Economic and Social History.
