Robert Yee is the David Richards Junior Research Fellow in Economic History at Wadham College, Oxford. He specialises in the economic and political history of modern Europe, with a focus on interwar Britain, France and Germany.
His research interests include the history of central banking, regulation, finance and international relations. He is currently writing a book on the history of economic expertise in interwar Britain. It assesses the role of the Bank of England and its advisers in reshaping foreign relations, industrial affairs and domestic economic policy. A second book project examines the politics of banking regulation in Germany, c. 1890–1960. It shows how regulation emerged as a tool for protecting national security, notably in times of war and political crisis. A part of one chapter has recently been published in the Business History Review.
He holds a PhD and MA in History from Princeton University, as well as a BA with Highest Honors in History and in Economics from Vanderbilt University. He has also been a visiting scholar at the Humboldt University of Berlin and the Paris School of Economics.
